Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has succeeded in arresting four active members of a gang supplying state-of-the-art weapons. The gang used to supply illegal weapons manufactured in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, apart from Uttar Pradesh in Delhi.
One stengun of nine mm and three pistols of .32 bore and several magazines have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Cases have been registered against the accused at Mundadih police station in Varanasi and Dehat police station in Hapur. ATS is on the lookout for some other active members of the gang.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that concrete information was received about the gang supplying state-of-the-art illegal arms. Based on which the Varanasi unit of ATS was activated. The ATS has arrested the accused Buxar resident Dinesh Kumar, Ritesh Pandey, JJ Colony Wazirpur, Delhi resident Ankit Kumar and Satyam Kumar.
The ADG said that on April 19, the ATS caught Dinesh Kumar and Ritesh Pandey, who reached Varanasi after selling some arms to their associates in Delhi, with nine MM’s stengon, two magazines and a pistol. 13500 rupees were also recovered from their possession. Both were trying to go from Varanasi to Bihar.
The Noida unit of ATS was also activated on the basis of the facts revealed in the interrogation of both. After which the accused Ankit Kumar and Satyam were apprehended from Hapur and two pistols and two magazines were recovered from their possession. During interrogation, the accused told that they had bought some weapons from Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh). The accused have also admitted to selling two arms in Delhi in the past with the help of Satyam.
According to ATS officials, active members of the same gang, Anshu Kumar alias Tinku, Deepak Tiwari, Abhishek Kumar Rai, Amit Singh and Yogesh Rai were arrested in Ballia on January 31. After which Shiv Satya alias Majheel of the same gang was arrested on 16 February in Ghazipur with illegal weapons. The ATS is also probing other members of gangs supplying arms in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as well as criminals who bought their illegal arms.
