Saharanpur. The body of a 10-year-old girl, who was missing since Friday evening, was found lying about 200 meters away from her house in Sadar Bazar police station area on Saturday morning. The family has alleged that she was raped and then murdered. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and have detained a suspect. The forensic team has also collected evidence from the scene.
A 10-year-old girl, resident of Mohalla Sheikhpura in Sadar Bazar police station area, was playing outside her house at around 7 pm on Friday evening. When the girl did not reach home even after a long time, her family started looking for her, but she was not found anywhere. The family lodged a complaint in Sadar police station at around 11 pm, suspecting kidnapping.
The police team searched at many places at night, but no trace of the girl was found. On Saturday morning, the body of the girl was found lying in a deserted place about 200 meters away from her house. The said place is behind the house of a neighbor living in front of their house. Seeing the condition of the girl’s body, the family lodged a complaint alleging that she was raped and then murdered. Police has taken the neighbour into custody and is questioning him. Forensic team has also taken samples from the crime scene and sent them for investigation. Police has checked the footage of nearby CCTV cameras.
A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint. A suspect has been taken into custody. Action will be taken on the basis of post-mortem report and evidence. – Vyom Bindal, SP City
