Hyderabad: Amid India-Pakistan tension, the country’s government is taking the toughest steps for the national interest. After the Pahalgam terror attack, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) imposed a complete ban on Pakistani artists in the country. At the same time, now the Government of India has issued an official advisory for all OTT and digital platforms, ordering the removal of all original content from Pakistan.
On May 8, 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) of the Government of India has given another blow to Pakistan. Actually, the ministry has issued an advisory to all OTT platforms, streaming services and digital intermediaries.
The ministry has directed not to broadcast any content coming from Pakistan, citing concerns over national security and public order. This advice has been issued by the MIB under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct) Rules, 2021. Earlier, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) had condemned the ‘anti-India’ comments of Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan after Operation Sindoor. However, the association had completely banned Pakistani artists in India only after the Pahalgam attack.
The association said that their statements were ‘disrespectful to the nation’ and ‘an insult to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.’ The association said that it imposes a ‘strict and complete ban’ on Pakistani artists, film makers and financiers from working in India.
