Lucknow: With the aim of strengthening the internal security of the country, on the instructions of the state government, action has been taken against more than 350 illegal religious places built in the districts bordering Nepal in the last one week. Many religious places built illegally in Pilibhit, Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar and Maharajganj have been identified.
104 madrasas, one mosque, five mazars and two Idgahs built illegally on public and private land in Shravasti were sealed on 10 and 11 May. Also, one illegal madrasa has been demolished. Similarly, 13 madrasas, eight mosques, two mazars and one Idgah have been sealed in Bahraich, while 11 have been demolished. These include eight madrasas, two mosques and one mazar.
In Siddharthnagar too, four mosques and 18 madrasas have been identified on last Saturday and Sunday. Of these, five madrasas have been sealed and nine have been demolished.
On the basis of the report of the District Minority Welfare Officer in Parsamalik village of Nautanwa tehsil of Maharajganj, the operation of the unrecognized madrasa running on the Maktab has been closed and the keys have been handed over to the police station in-charge. So far in Maharajganj, a total of 29 madrasas and five tombs built by encroaching on public and private land have been demolished.
Nine religious places have been sealed in Lakhimpur Kheri, while three have been demolished. An illegal mosque has also been identified in Pilibhit. In Balrampur, action has been taken to demolish the madrasa under construction on public land in village Veerpur Semra, tehsil Tulsipur on Sunday.
