Pune. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Om Prakash Shukla, a former principal of the National Defense Academy (NDA). In fact, a charge sheet has been filed against him in a case for allegedly exaggerating educational records for the appointment of teaching staff in the institute. An official said that the chargesheet has been filed by the CBI in a Pune court.
The officer said that the CBI had registered a case in May 2018 against the NDA, the then principal of Kharagwasla, and others on charges of fake appointments to various posts of civil faculty in the NDA based on false and exaggerated claims.
The CBI had registered a case of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused.
The agency searched the premises of the accused in June 2018, leading to the recovery of secret documents.
According to the CBI, it was also alleged that during the period 2007–08, Shukla fraudulently obtained an appointment as a Professor in Economics at NDA and later, in 2011, as an Principal NDA. He made false claims in the application filed in UPSC and cheated the Ministry of Education.
In July 2017, the CBI launched a preliminary inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of teaching staff at the Defense Training Institute.
