When the Municipal Corporation team excavated the sanctum sanctorum, a Shivling and many broken idols were found buried in the debris, which have been taken out. After cleaning the temple, the idol will be installed in it.
Broken idols of Nandi, Ganesh, Kartikeya and Lord Hanuman have been found in Gauri Shankar temple which was closed for 44 years in Moradabad. Municipal Corporation officials were present on the spot and got the temple cleaned by the employees. However, no case of any kind of occupation of the temple has come to light so far.
This temple was closed for a long time, so its condition has deteriorated due to lack of maintenance. Now it is being brought to a condition to perform worship there by cleaning and painting. During the inspection of this religious place, the team found that both the doors of this temple were closed in the year 1980 by pouring debris and masonry. It has also come to light that the temple was closed since the murder of the priest in the riots of 1980. The grandson of the priest had given an application to the DM of Moradabad a week ago and requested to reopen the temple.
Excavation done amid tight security
After this, the administration inspected the temple located in Jhabbu Ka Nala Mohalla in Nagfani area in the city three days ago and on Monday, cleaning and excavation was done amid tight security. Statues of Hanumanji, Shivling and Nandi have been found in the excavation and this process will continue further, until the temple comes in its full form.
What did the SDM say about the temple?
Sadar SDM Ram Mohan Meena said that this temple was closed since the 1980 riots. We had visited here on Saturday as well, saw its condition. On Monday, he came to the spot with the team of Municipal Corporation and Police Force. The walls of the temple were made of bricks and the gate has been opened and its sanctum sanctorum has been vacated. Old idols, Shivling and broken idols have also been found inside the temple. We have now emptied the entire temple. Our full effort is to bring it back to its original form. He told that in the first step, cleaning was done and now the idols will be installed. Broken idols have been found inside the Gauri Shankar temple, in which the Shivling has been found intact. Apart from this, if there is any encroachment, then we are also checking its records. Temples have been found in Sambhal-Varanasi-Khurja First of all, a Shiv temple closed for 46 years was found in the Muslim dominated area of Sambhal, which was found by the team investigating electricity theft, after whose excavation, worship and aarti have been started in it. Apart from this, temples have also been found in Varanasi and Khurja of Bulandshahr, which are in Muslim dominated areas.
