The All India Congress Committee has released the first list of candidates for the formation of the 18th Legislative Assembly in the midst of the possibility of doing something unexpected in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In the first list of 125 candidates, 50 women have their names.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, general secretary of the All India Congress Committee and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday released the first list of the party’s candidates. In this list of 125 candidates, 50 women candidates have been given tickets. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has released the list of candidates by holding a press conference through video conferencing. Congress has given ticket to Makhi rape victim’s mother from Unnao’s Sadar seat. Asha Singh, mother of Makhi rape victim from Sadar in Unnao, Madhu Rawat from Mohan and Aarti Bajpai from Bangarmau have been given tickets.
Priyanka Gandhi said that the Congress party has released its first list for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections today. Today we have released the list of 125 candidates. There are 50 women in it. We have tried that our candidate should be a struggling candidate and a candidate who initiates new politics in the entire state.
Priyanka said that our Unnao candidate is the mother of the victim of Unnao’s Makhi incident. We have given them a chance to continue their struggle. The power in which his daughter was tortured. His family was ruined, now he should get power there. We have also given ticket to Ramraj Gond, one of the victim of Sonbhadra massacre. Similarly, the Asha sisters did a lot of work in Corona, but they were beaten up. We have also given ticket to one of them, Poonam Pandey. Sadaf Jafar had struggled a lot during CAA-NRC. The government harassed him by getting his photo printed in the poster. My message is that if you are tortured then fight for your rights. Congress is with such women. We have tried that our candidate should be a struggling candidate and a candidate who initiates new politics in the entire state.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that our list of candidates also has a new message. Along with 40 percent women, we have also nominated 40 percent youth. We hope that through them we will do a new kind of politics. In the tickets given to women, there are some journalists and one or two actresses. The list of social service women also includes those women who have struggled and were subjected to atrocities.
Congress has nominated Asha Singh, mother of the victim of Makhi incident from Unnao Sadar and Ritu Singh, the victim of Cheerharan incident of Lakhimpur, from Mohammadi seat. Party spokesperson Pankhuri Pathak has also been nominated from Noida. Salman Khurshid’s wife Ki Lewis Khurshid has got ticket from Farrukhabad, Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra Mona has got ticket from Rampur Khas in Pratapgarh. Gunjan Mishra has been fielded from Etah. A big turning point has come in Unnao’s politics. Congress state in-charge Priyanka Vadra has fielded Asha Singh, mother of the victim of Makhi rape case, from Sadar assembly constituency. Congress district president Aarti Bajpai has been fielded from Bangarmau and Madhu Rawat from Mohan.
Congress has declared Archana Gautam from Hastinapur in Meerut and Babita Gurjar from Kithore. In Varanasi, Ajay Rai will contest from Pindra and Rajeshwar Patel from Rohaniya. Congress District President Yunus Chaudhary has been given ticket from Chhaprauli seat in Baghpat. Ramraj Gond, a tribal affected in the Umbha massacre case, has been nominated from Sonbhadra. The party humiliated Samina from Sitapur, Nida Ahmed from Sambhal, Alpana Nishad from Prayagraj South, Ritu Singh humiliated by the crowd in Lakhimpur Kheri, Poonam Pandey who joined the movement of Asha Bahus in Shahjahanpur and vandalized the CAA movement in Lucknow. Accused Sadaf Jafar has been made a candidate from Lucknow Central. Former MLA Uma Kanti from Jalaun’s Kalpi and former Additional Commissioner Urmila Sonkar Khabri from Orai reserved seat have been given tickets. Umakanti became the first woman MLA of the district. Gurmeet Kaur and Sitapur Shabina have been fielded from Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur.
Congress fielded candidates on eight seats of Prayagraj Mandal
The All India Congress Committee on Thursday fielded candidates for eight assembly seats in Prayagraj Mandal. Among them, Aradhana Mishra Mona from Rampur Khas seat of Pratapgarh district, Binarani from Babaganj and Neeraj Tripathi from Pratapgarh Sadar seat has been fielded. Apart from this, Arun Kumar Vidyarthi will also contest from Manjhanpur assembly constituency of Kaushambi on a Congress ticket. Whereas, Durgesh Pandey, female candidate from Phaphamau assembly constituency of Prayagraj, Anugrah Narayan Singh from city north, Alpana Nishad from city south and Manju Sant, female candidate from Bara assembly seat have been declared candidates.
