Aligarh. When the brother of the district panchayat member was sitting in the school, the contesting candidate opened fire with a pistol in the village Mahka of Palimukimpur police station in Aligarh district. The people of the village ran after getting information about the firing in broad daylight. While chasing the bike-borne assailant, he could not run away as his bike ran out of petrol.
At the same time, the villagers caught hold of the attacker and beat him up. The condition of the Panchayat member’s brother is said to be critical. The police have sent both of them to the district hospital for treatment. In which the attacker Ravinder has been admitted to the medical after his condition deteriorated.
Ravendra Kumar, a resident of village Dadar Alupura, contested the election in front of District Panchayat member Somesh Chaudhary, resident of village Mahka of police station Palimukimpur. District Panchayat member Somesh Chaudhary told that his brother Santosh Chaudhary was sitting in the village school. It is alleged that then Ravendra Singh opened fire with a pistol for the purpose of murder.
While running on the bike, people chased and caught Ravendra and handed him over to the police. The bike could not go ahead due to the lack of oil in his bike. A pistol and cartridges were found from the bike. On receiving the information, the Palimukimpur police force has reached the spot.
Police is investigating. District Panchayat member Somesh Chaudhary told that Ravendra Kumar stood for the post of member in the district panchayat elections. After losing the election, Ravendra had been admitting to electoral rivalry. Due to this enmity, his brother has been attacked with a deadly attack.
CO Charra Devi Ghulam said, ‘The matter seems to be of electoral rivalry. The attacker also suffered several injuries. He has been sent to the district hospital for treatment. SO Pallimukimpur is doing full investigation on the spot.
