New Delhi. For the first time in the history of T20 International cricket, a bilateral T20 series was played between Bangladesh and Australia. In this T20 series, hosts Bangladesh defeated Australia 4-1 badly. In the last match of this series, Bangladesh team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan created history and became the first player in the world to score more than 1000 runs in T20 International cricket as well as take more than 100 T20 wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan is now the only male cricketer in the world to have first 1000 or more runs and 100 wickets in T20 International cricket. However, the exact figure is slightly higher, as he took 4 wickets in the last match of the five-match T20I series against Australia. As soon as he took the second wicket, he became the first Bangladesh player to take 100 wickets in T20 International cricket. Before him, no player could do this feat.
Former Bangladesh team captain Shakib Al Hasan has so far scored 1718 runs in 84 matches in T20 International cricket, while he has taken 102 wickets. The record for most wickets in T20 International cricket is held by Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, who has achieved 107 successes. Shakib Al Hasan is not far from Malinga and is expected to overtake Malinga to become the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket in the T20 World Cup.
Malinga has taken 107 wickets in 83 innings of 84 matches, while Shakib Al Hasan has taken 102 wickets in the same innings of the same number of matches. Even he has bowled 10 overs more than Malinga. On average, they get one breakthrough every fourth over.
