New Delhi Satnam Singh Bhamara, India’s first basketball player to play in the National Basketball League (NBA), has been banned for two years for doping. Satnam was selected in the NBA Draft in 2015. He became the first player from India to be selected in the biggest league of basketball.
Satnam has been banned by the disciplinary committee of the Anti-Doping Agency of India (NADA) for two years after being found guilty of consuming the Higenemine Beat-2-agonist.
Nada tweeted on Thursday, writing, “Satnam Singh Bhamara, a basketball player, has been found guilty of consuming the Higenamine Beat-2-agonist. The Anti-Doping Discipline Committee has imposed a two-year ban on him.”
Higenamine was included in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of banned substances in 2017.
Satnam, who plays at the center position, was included in the Texas Legends’ Opening Night Rooster.
He made his Opening Night debut in the 2015-16 season. He also played in the 2016-17 season and returned to India after that.
