Jaipur . Class 12 students of the CBSE board have to visit psychologists and counselors, as there is no clarity about the exam date, exam pattern and practical exam as yet.
Ankita, a student of a student preparing for board exams for class 12, said that things have become quite uncertain this time with the corona epidemic compared to December last year.
He said that most of the time students are connected to WhatsApp, because they get all the links there for coaching and other updates. The moment they cannot do it, they are unable to take their class, which is a big loss for them. Ankita said, finally they are spending all their time on mobile, checking WhatsApp updates, attending classes. Apart from this, he said that when the students get some free time from this, then they are watching the web series.
Dr. Anamika Papariwal, a psychologist and psychiatrist from Jaipur, said, “There are many students who come to us for counseling and they are distressed since the lockdown.” For the last 10 months, he has neither been able to meet friends nor meet teachers to clarify their doubts. She points out that uncertainty about exam dates, question paper patterns and practicals are adding to her troubles, which is creating a stress-like situation for her.
He said that many students give up their studies and give up, saying whatever will happen now will be seen, ‘which is equally worrying to their parents and they are coming for counseling sessions too.
Ankit, a student of mathematics in class 12, said, the status of our class XII examination is not clear, while many engineering institutes have already released their admit cards for the next semester.
The student expressed concern over the ambiguity about the exam, saying that CBSE had reduced the syllabus by 30 percent, was important to them and had a scoring part. Ankit said, Now, when we have not attended any classes, how will we participate in practicals and give board exams in a plenary session. After that it is also a challenge to pass competitive and other entrance examinations under the present circumstances.
Dr. Anamika says, we are counseling students coming here and telling them that everyone is trying to find a solution to the current challenges. So they too will emerge as winners in the long run.
In a live interactive session on 10 December, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal assured the students that they would return to school soon, as the situation of Kovid-19 in the country is improving. Currently 17 states have decided to reopen the schools.
Pokhriyal will now join the teachers live on 22 December.
