Kolkata. Sujata Mondal Khan, wife of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Soumitra Khan from Bankura district in West Bengal, has joined the ruling Trinamool Congress. In the state, it can be said to be a big blow to the BJP from the Trinamool Congress, as well as the counterattack from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). In fact, along with big leaders like Suvendu Adhikari in Bengal, many other leaders have left TMC and joined BJP. Before the Assembly elections in 2021, politics in West Bengal is taking many turns. Now Sujata Mondal, wife of BJP MP, has joined Trinamool Congress.
Mondal joined the Trinamool Congress on Monday in the presence of Trinamool Congress veteran Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy and party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. Soumitra is currently an MP from Bishnupur Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal and is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). TMC veteran Suvendu Adhikari, along with other MLAs and MPs, saw this significant political change 48 hours after joining the BJP during the rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Midnapore College Ground on Saturday.
Mondal told media persons, those who sent people to sabotage our house have now joined BJP. I did everything for the party, which was in danger of life. But the BJP did not respect it. Instead they are welcoming people from other parties. Sujata Mondal said that someday Soumitra Khan will also realize this and he will return to the Trinamool Congress. She also alleged that the BJP has not given her the respect she deserved in the party.
He said, BJP does not respect deserving people. People are joining BJP to get attractive posts of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. I am joining TMC, as the party will give me respect and protection.
