New Delhi PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth have been selected in the Indian badminton team for three tournaments to be held in Bangkok, Thailand next year. In the Indian team, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Ashwin Ponnappa and N.K. Sikki Reddy has also got a place in the team. The team will begin their campaign with the Thailand Open to be played from January 12 to 17.
After this, the Indian team will participate in the Toyota Thailand Open which starts from 19 to 24 January. BWF will also take part in the World Tour Finals, to be played from January 27 to 31. This tournament has been rescheduled.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) general secretary Ajay Singhania said in a statement, “We are delighted that badminton is returning to the court. It gives us hope that we can make a gradual comeback in the near future. Our Most of the players have not played any tournament in the last seven-eight months. They are training with the best facilities though. ”
“The purpose of sending a full strength team to these tournaments is that the players will get the necessary practice before the Olympic qualifier,” he said.
Indian players have not landed on the court after Kovid-19. Only Srikanth is the only player to have participated in the Denmark Open in October, where he reached the quarter-finals.
