new Delhi. On 25 September, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation demolished the RWA gates installed at Green Park Extension to protect residents. Politics has been hot on this. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has attacked the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Police for breaking the gates for security outside Delhi’s colonies. Residents’ organization RWA says that people were forced to get gates with their money, being troubled by the criminal activities happening on the day.
AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar Somnath Bharti lashed out at the BJP. He said that the BJP, which holds the corporation, is harassing the people of Delhi and the RWA. The BJP-ruled corporation arbitrarily smashed 8 RWA gates for safety in the Green Park Extension without giving any notice.
He further said that all the gates were provided by the RWA with their own money, the MCD had no involvement in setting up these gates. When asked by the deputy commissioner of the corporation, it was found that he had no knowledge about this development.
Nakula Sharan, president of the Green Park Extension Residents Association, told IANS, “Our society is open all around. As the population grows, people are using the roads of our society as a short cut path. Delhi Police took out the Neighborhood Colony Scheme 30 years ago, under which we got these gates installed. ”
He said, “There are a total of 18 gates in our society, MCD has been given to this society for maintenance, but it is not the owner. We have installed these gates for the safety of the people of our society, gates will not be there, so the days will come.” There will be looting.
Sharan said that the corporators brought concocted orders, no notice was given to us earlier and our total 4 gates were broken.
At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party said, “We are with the RWA of Green Park and the people there, we will get these gates again. If the BJP breaks the gates anywhere in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party will get those gates installed.”
It has been alleged on behalf of AAP that no notice was given before breaking the gates, no reason was given for breaking it, and also under which law the corporation was doing all this.
