A Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist with alleged links to Pakistan’s ISI was arrested from Kaushambi district in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh STF and Punjab Police on Thursday morning. The suspected terrorist Lazar Masih, a resident of Kurliyan village in Ramdas area of Amritsar, Punjab, was arrested around 3.20 am.
Additional Director General of Police (UP Special Task Force, Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said the operation was carried out in Kokhraj police station area of Kaushambi. Yash said that as per the information available, the arrested terrorist works for Swarn Singh alias Jeevan Fauji, head of the Germany-based module of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and is in direct contact with Pakistan-based ISI operatives.
Explosive material and weapons recovered
He said the UP STF was successful in recovering some explosive material and illegal weapons from the terrorist. The official said the recovery included three active hand grenades, two active detonators, a foreign-made pistol and 13 foreign-made cartridges.
Escaped from judicial custody
He said that apart from this, a white colored explosive powder, an Aadhar card with Ghaziabad address, a mobile phone without a SIM card were also seized from his possession. The ADG said that this terrorist had escaped from judicial custody in Punjab on September 24, 2024.
Two BKI operatives arrested
Earlier on February 23, Punjab Police had succeeded in arresting two main operatives of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Both of them were in direct contact with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda and US-based gangster Happy Pasian. They have been identified as Jagdish Singh alias Jagga and Shubhdeep Singh Aulakh alias Shubh. According to the police, they were ordered to carry out target killings in Punjab.
