Prayagraj. There is a dispute over the name of the alleged mosque in Sambhal. During the hearing of the revision petition of the management committee of Jami Masjid Sambhal in Allahabad High Court, advocate Manoj Kumar Singh of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) objected to the fact that the name of the mosque is written as Juma Masjid in the documents of ASI.
The agreement made between the Secretary of State and the Mutawalli of the mosque in the year 1927 also mentions Juma Masjid, whereas the petition is filed in the name of Jami Masjid. During the hearing on the last date 28 February, Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal had asked the senior advocate of the petitioner SFA Naqvi what is the real name? Then he had told that it is Jama Masjid. He will file a revision petition, but no revision petition came.
So the question still remains whether Sambhal Masjid is Jama Masjid or Jami Masjid or Juma Masjid? If the petition is filed with the wrong name and the name is not revised, then the petition can be rejected on this basis.
This issue can be raised again in the next hearing. At present, the Advocate General has called the Sambhal Mosque a disputed mosque structure. The opposition Harishankar Jain has also made a similar demand.
He said that it should be called a disputed structure, not a mosque. The dispute is going on in the subordinate court whether the alleged mosque is a temple or a mosque. The next hearing in this case will be on March 10.
Hearing in the Sambhal Jama Masjid survey case will now be on April 28
Hearing in the Jama Masjid case will now be on April 28. The reply letter was to be submitted by the mosque committee on Wednesday. Committee advocate Shakeel Warsi said that he had gone to the court with preparation. A stay has been granted by the Supreme Court and the High Court in this case.
In such a situation, the local court has given the next date instead of hearing. On November 19, 2024, a survey was conducted on the same day when one party claimed that there was a Harihar temple in the Jama Masjid.
The Advocate Commissioner had decided to conduct the remaining survey in the second phase. On November 24, during the second survey, the mob resorted to violence. Four youths were killed in this.
A deputy collector, SP, CO and more than a dozen other people were injured due to stone pelting and firing. Recently, the Jama Masjid committee went to the Supreme Court objecting to the survey. On this, the apex court has stayed the hearing in the civil court. The local court has fixed a date instead of hearing.
