Moradabad. The game of bribery going on in the departments has been exposed once again. Bareilly’s vigilance team arrested Moradabad’s Assistant Commissioner of Medicine Manu Shankar while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 in the name of giving a medical license.
Rs 15,000 taken as bribe was also recovered from his possession. The team took the Assistant Commissioner to Bareilly. Where an FIR was registered against him. He will be produced in the Anti Corruption Court Bareilly on Friday.
This is the whole matter
Bahjoi resident Sunny Kashyap applied for a medical store license on the portal on December 5, 2024. The application reached Assistant Commissioner of Medicine Manu Shankar.
When he did not issue the license, Sunny Kashyap contacted the Assistant Commissioner of Medicine, then he started demanding Rs 35,000. When the license was not given without money, Sunny agreed to pay Rs 30,000 in two installments. It was decided to pay 15 thousand rupees in the first installment and 20 thousand rupees in the second. On the other hand, Sunny informed the Bareilly Vigilance team about this matter. After getting the information, the Bareilly Vigilance team laid a trap to catch the accused Assistant Commissioner of Medicine. The team gave 15 thousand rupees to the applicant by applying powder. Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, the applicant for the license of a medical store reached the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Medicine and gave 15 thousand rupees as bribe. Meanwhile, the Vigilance Inspector and his team arrested Assistant Commissioner of Medicine Manu Shankar red handed while taking a bribe of 15 thousand rupees. The bribe money was recovered from his possession and after making him reach Civil Lines, they took him to Bareilly. After the arrest, an FIR was registered against Manu Shankar in the Bareilly Vigilance Police Station under the charges of Prevention of Corruption Act. SP Vigilance Arvind Acharya said that the Assistant Commissioner of Medicine has been arrested while taking bribe. An FIR has been registered against him. One and a half lakh rupees more have been recovered from him. It is also being investigated from where that money came.
The team found Rs 1.5 lakh during the search
After arresting Assistant Commissioner of Medicine Manu Shankar while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000, the vigilance team searched his pockets. The team claims that during the search, Rs 1.5 lakh cash was found from the Assistant Commissioner of Medicine. The source of this money is also being investigated. The team is trying to find out from where the Rs 1.5 lakh found with him came.
