The second T20 match between India and England was played on Saturday (25 January) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Team India won the match by 2 wickets. The match was very exciting, in which Tilak Verma made a significant contribution in getting India the victory. Tilak stood till the end and played the entire match for India. Team India needed 6 runs in the last over and only 2 wickets were left. After winning this exciting match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav gave an interesting reaction. Suryakumar Yadav said after the match, “There was a little relief with the way the game was going. We thought 160 would be a good total. They bowled really well, it was good that the game went till the last moment. We have been playing with an extra batsman for the last 2-3 series. We want that cushion and also that the batsman gives us 2-3 overs in the game. The conversation all around was about playing as we played the last game. We are playing aggressive cricket, but as the situation was, the boys really put their hands up and made small partnerships.” Further reacting to the dismissal of Axar Patel and Tilak Verma, Surya said, “I was sitting inside, a little superstitious. All these things are part of the game, you learn, you move forward. I am happy with Tilak’s batting. It was good to see that someone took responsibility.” Talking about Ravi Bishnoi, Surya said, “He is working hard in the nets. He wants to contribute with the bat as well, this is a perfect example of what he did today and Arshdeep Singh should not be forgotten as well.”
Surya further said, “The experience was great. The boys took a lot of pressure off me, so I could go and express myself. The atmosphere was great. There was a light atmosphere in the dressing room. We want to play a certain brand of cricket. We know what we want to do.”
