Ambedkar Nagar. Former MLA Pawan Pandey has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment after 34 years after being found guilty in a murderous attack case. On Monday, Special Court (MP/MLA related criminal cases) and Additional Sessions Judge Parvind Kumar, along with the sentence, imposed a fine of Rs 32,000 on him. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of three months.
Arvind Kumar Singh was going to Ayodhya with his friend Anil Singh in his car on 26 June 1990. On the way, five people in a car overtook him and fired bullets at his car. Both of them were hit by pellets at several places on their bodies. Both of them somehow saved their lives by running away.
A case was registered in Baskhaari police station
Arvind had registered a case in Baskhaari police station by giving a written complaint against former MLA Pawan Pandey and Jagdamba Singh. After investigation, the police sent the charge sheet against both the accused to the court. Jagdamba Singh died during the session trial.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him
Assistant District Government Advocate (Crime) Dilip Singh presented the witnesses in the court and argued in favour of sentencing the accused. After the hearing, the judge convicted the accused Pawan Pandey for murderous attack and other offences and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment and fine.
