Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has issued his first statement on the arrest warrant issued against him. Actually, the Indian cricketer was accused of deducting Rs 23 lakh from the salary of the employees of the company, which Uthappa did not deposit in the Provident Fund. Now the Indian cricketer has issued a statement in his defense through social media.
Robin Uthappa issued a statement on his Twitter account and said that in the year 2018-19 he was appointed as a director in Strawberry Lenseria Private Limited, Century Lifestyle Brands Private Limited and Barry’s Fashion House due to financial assistance. Uthappa had provided this financial help to these companies in the form of loan. Uthappa told that he had no connection with the day-to-day operations of the company. The Indian cricketer also revealed that till date he has not got any executive role in any of the companies in which he has invested money.
I did not get my money back
Referring to the loan given to these companies, Robin Uthappa said, “Unfortunately these companies failed to return the money that I had given them as a loan. Due to this I was forced to take the path of legal action. I have also resigned from the post of director many years ago.”
He further said, “When the PF officials issued a notice demanding payment of the outstanding amount, my legal team retaliated and said that I no longer have any role in the so-called companies. We also presented the documents in which the companies themselves had confirmed the lack of my participation.”
Robin Uthappa believes that despite all this, the PF officials have continued the proceedings. Uthappa said that his legal team will take necessary steps to resolve the matter. He also urged everyone not to spread any kind of false news.
