Ten convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of CO Kunda Zia-ul-Haq. The CBI Special Court Lucknow pronounced this verdict on Wednesday. This heartbreaking murder took place on 2 March 2013, when the then CO Kunda Zia-ul-Haq was shot dead after being beaten with sticks. Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya was also made an accused in this case, although he has already been given a clean chit.
The CBI Special Court of Lucknow has sentenced Phoolchand Yadav, Pawan Yadav, Manjeet Yadav, Ghanshyam Saroj, Ram Lakhan Gautam, Chhotelal Yadav, Ram Asare, Munna Patel, Shivram Pasi, Jagat Bahadur Pal alias Bulle Pal, who were convicted in the DSP Zia-ul-Haq murder case on Wednesday, to life imprisonment. Raghuraj Pratap Singh Raja Bhaiya and his close Gram Pradhan Gulshan Yadav have already been given a clean chit in this case. A fine of Rs 15,000 each was also imposed on all 10 convicts. Half of this amount will be given to Zia-ul-Haq’s wife.
How was CO Zia-ul-Haq murdered?
The then Pradhan Nanhe Yadav was murdered on 2 March 2013 in Kunda Balipur village of Pratapgarh. Two bike-borne miscreants shot at him. After this incident, Nanhe’s supporters reached Balipur village with weapons and set fire to Kamta Pal’s house in the same village. When the then Kunda Kotwal could not muster the courage to go towards Nanhe’s house with his team, the then CO Zia-ul-Haq moved towards it. The police personnel engaged in the security of the CO hid due to the fear of firing by the villagers. When the CO reached among the villagers, he was surrounded. Meanwhile, Nanhe Yadav’s younger brother Suresh died due to firing. After this, the villagers surrounded the CO and first beat him up and then shot him dead.
FIR was also registered against Raja Bhaiya
CO Zia-ul-Haq’s wife Parveen had filed an FIR against 5 accused. The name of the then Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya was also included in this. Apart from this, Gulshan Yadav, Rohit Singh Sanjay and Hariom Srivastava were also named as accused. When there was a ruckus on this issue, the then Akhilesh government handed over the investigation to the CBI. The CBI filed a closure report in 2013. In this, Raja Bhaiya, Hariom, Rohit, Sanjay, Gulshan Yadav were given a clean chit. The names of other accused were included.
