Lucknow. The government has issued guidelines to prevent and deal with monkeypox, a viral disease that has spread in central and western Africa. The government has instructed all district magistrates and health department officials to screen and isolate patients coming from outside at all entry points of the state.
In the advisory issued by the Secretary of the Government, Ranjan Kumar, it has been said that monkeypox has been detected in the travellers who have travelled to African countries along with local infection. In view of this, public health services will be made available at all entry points of the state. In this, transit isolation facility will be established here by making a referral to a medical unit in all the districts having entry points.
In-charge and nodal officers will be appointed, whose mobile numbers will be sent to the state headquarters. Coordination will be made with APHO and other immigration officers nominated by the Government of India.
International passenger health desk will be set up at airports. Travellers with fever, extreme weakness and rashes due to unknown reasons will be identified. Caution will be observed in identification, sample collection, transportation and treatment of suspected patients. Teams appointed from CMO level will transfer suspected patients by ambulance to the transit isolation facility of the identified referral medical unit. Samples of symptomatic passengers from the referral hospital will be sent to the microbiology department of KGMU.
