Muzaffarnagar. In Ratanpuri, the team of police, STF Noida and STF Bihar killed a criminal from Bihar with a reward of Rs 2.25 lakh in an encounter.
SP Rural Aditya Bansal said that the police had received information that a criminal from Bihar, Nilesh Rai, son of Gopal Rai, resident of Baro Rampur, Thana Gadhara, District Begusarai Bihar, with a reward of Rs 2.25 lakh, was living in Budhana area of Muzaffarnagar for a few days.
Muzaffarnagar police contacted Bihar STF. On confirmation of the criminal, STF Bihar reached Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday afternoon. Late on Wednesday night, the police received information that Nilesh Rai along with his two companions was coming to Muzaffarnagar from Budhana via Ratanpuri on a bike.
SP Rural Aditya Bansal, STF Noida and STF Bihar tried to stop three people riding a bike at around 11 pm. On this, the bike riders started firing at the police. In the retaliatory firing, the criminal Nilesh Rai, with a reward of Rs 2.25 lakh, was seriously injured after being shot. His two companions ran away while firing.
The police took the injured miscreant to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead. SP Rural said, Nilesh was found with a 9 mm pistol, a 32 bore revolver and a pistol. He was living in Budhana to escape from Bihar Police.
According to the police, 16 cases of robbery, murder and dacoity are registered against Nilesh Rai in Fulwadia, Barauni and Nagar police stations of Begusarai district. Police has filed charge sheet in court in 12 of these cases.
He had fled after firing at the police in February
According to the police, when the police raided the Gadhara police station area on 21 February, Nilesh and his companions opened fire on the police team. In this incident, one person was injured by bullet. Nilesh Rai fled after committing this crime.
