Lucknow. This time too the state is likely to get an acting Director General of Police (DGP). DGP Vijay Kumar is retiring on January 31, but the process of appointing a permanent DGP has not been started yet.
Due to this, it is expected that once again the state will get only an acting DGP. Apart from 1988 batch IPS Anand Kumar and 1990 batch IPS Prashant Kumar, many faces are in the race for the new DGP.
Vijay Kumar was posted as acting DGP on 31 May 2023 after the retirement of RK Vishwakarma. His service period is ending on January 31.
After him in the seniority list, Mukul Goyal, Anand Kumar, Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Ashish Gupta, Aditya Mishra, PV Ramshastri, Sandeep Solanke, Daljit Chaudhary, Renuka Mishra, BK Maurya, SN Sabat, Avinash Chandra, Dr. Sanjay, Manmohan Kumar, Tanuja Srivastava, SK Mathur, Subhash Chandra and Prashant Kumar are among the most senior IPS officers.
Mukul Goyal of 1987 batch is retiring on 29 February, Anand Kumar of 1988 batch is retiring on 30 April, SK Mathur of 1990 batch is retiring on 31 January, Subhash Chandra on 30 April and Tanuja Srivastava on 31 July. Whereas Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Aditya Mishra, PU Ramshastri and Daljit Chaudhary are posted on deputation in the Central Government.
Anand Kumar, posted on the post of DG CBCID, is second in the seniority list. There are three months left for his retirement. Therefore, apart from him, the name of Prashant Kumar, who has the most influence in the government and the headquarters, is also being discussed.
However, Prashant Kumar’s name is at number 19 in the seniority list. The names of officers posted in the state with more than three months of service include Ashish Gupta, Sandeep Solanke, Renuka Mishra, BK Maurya, SN Sabat, Avinash Chandra, Dr. Sanjay, Manmohan Kumar, Tanuja Srivastava and Subhash Chandra.
