To keep an eye on criminals in UP, criminals are being monitored through Operation Trinetra. For this, 3 lakh 36 thousand 383 CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire UP so far. According to DGP Vijay Kumar, these cameras, like our police personnel, keep an eye on criminals round the clock. With their help, the police have been helped in opening many major incidents.
Cameras working for 11 lakh police personnel
The DGP said that the CCTV cameras installed in the districts are proving helpful for the police.
Through Operation Trinetra, CCTV cameras are being installed by the police from the police station to the roadside, market and intersection. Incidents are being revealed with the help of CCTV cameras. 93878 CCTV cameras were installed at 73519 places under Operation Trinetra started by UP Police from 10 July 2023.
Between July 10 and August 24, 2023, 336383 CCTV cameras have been installed at 1,89,365 places through Operation Trinetra.
If picket duty was imposed at so many places on the basis of eight hours, then at least 11 lakh police personnel would have to be deployed.
66,343 CCTV cameras have been installed at 32,544 places in Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Prayagraj, Noida, Ghaziabad and Kanpur Police Commissionerates. On the other hand, 176162 CCTV cameras have been installed at 83302 places in other districts.
Criminals being caught with the help of CCTV
According to police records, with the help of CCTV cameras, clues have been found in 52 cases of dacoity, 17 of murder, 12 of kidnapping, 8 of crime against women, 171 of theft and 35 of other criminal incidents. With the help of which the police have disclosed the incidents and nabbed the criminals.
