Lucknow. After the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj, the process of investigation has also been accelerated. On Monday, Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder. DGP RK Vishwakarma has also formed a three-member team under the leadership of ADG Bhanu Bhaskar to supervise this investigation team.
Bhanu Bhaskar also has long experience of CBI. The state government is very serious about the Atiq-Ashraf murder case. Along with highlighting all the aspects related to the incident, the exercise to prevent recurrence of such incident in future has been intensified. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a three-member SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed to investigate the murder case of Atiq and Ashraf after a three-member judicial commission was constituted to investigate the case.
At present, Police Station President Shahganj is investigating. The SIT has been given the responsibility of recording statements of witnesses, collection of archival, electronic and forensic evidence, testing of evidence in FSL as well as fair and effective investigation. In this, Prayagraj’s Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Chandra has been made the chief investigator, Assistant Commissioner of Police Satyendra Prasad Tiwari and Inspector Om Prakash (Investigation Cell, Crime Branch) as co-investigators. Apart from this, DGP Vishwakarma has given the responsibility of supervision to senior officers for fair and quality analysis. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director of Forensic Science Laboratory, Lucknow has also been included in the supervision team. The third member is Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma.

Commission’s notification released
The Home Department has issued a notification for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the murder. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, under the Commission of Inquiry Act-1952, a three-member judicial commission has been constituted to investigate the entire incident. The commission constituted under the chairmanship of former Allahabad High Court Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi (II) includes former DGP Subesh Kumar Singh and former judge Brijesh Kumar Soni as members.
