Kolhui (Maharajganj): Police recovered Rs 68 lakh from a car during vehicle checking at the checkpost in Kolhui town. On Monday morning the team was checking the vehicles from the security point of view. Meanwhile, there was a stir as soon as lakhs of rupees were recovered from the car. The accused along with the recovered cash is being interrogated by bringing them to the police station. After getting the information, the team of Income Tax Department has also reached the spot.
By car going to Nepal
In the investigation, it has come to light that the money was used in the business of money exchange. On Monday, vehicles were being checked on the highway by SSB and Kolhui police. At the same time the car going from Gorakhpur to Nepal was stopped.
On hearing about the investigation, the driver Rohit Yadav, a resident of New Shivpuri Colony, near Gopalapur police station, Ramgarhtal, got scared and tried to drive away, but could not go ahead. Seeing the gesture of the driver, the team got suspicious. The car was searched.
2000, 500, 200 and 100 rupees 68 lakh, 11 thousand one hundred were recovered from the bag found in the car. When the accused did not give proper answer regarding the note during interrogation and did not give any evidence related to it, the police team along with the vehicle took him to the police station.
In the preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the use of rupees is related to money exchange and purchase of gold. SP Dr. Kaustubh said that the accused taken into custody is being interrogated. The Income Tax Department team has also reached the spot. Advance action will be taken after investigation.
