Kanpur. After 22 months in the Bikru case, the police have taken a big action. The then station in-charge Vinay Tiwari and light in-charge KK Sharma, who were in jail for helping gangster Vikas Dubey, have been sacked. Both have been found guilty in the long departmental action and the officers have taken action. The investigating officer has sent information about the action of dismissal of police personnel to the government.
Know what is the matter: On July 2, 2020, the police team that went to raid the house of Vikas Dubey in Bikru village of Chaubepur was attacked by his henchmen. Eight police personnel including the then Bilhaur Circle Officer Devendra Mishra were sacrificed in the attack. Later, within seven days, the police team killed six of his associates, including Vikas Dubey, in an encounter. In the investigation of the case, the then police station in-charge of Chaubepur Vinay Kumar Tiwari and light in-charge KK Sharma were found helpful to Vikas Dubey. It is alleged that he had already given information about police raids to Vikas Dubey.
SO and light in-charge were arrested: Many information including light in-charge KK Sharma’s constant contact with Vikas Dubey and relation with policemen had come to the fore. Both the police personnel were suspended, arrested and sent to jail. Separate departmental inquiry was started for both.
The investigation report was submitted to the government: On being found guilty in the case, the action of dismissal of both the police personnel was done after the report of the Special Investigation Team. Investigating officer Additional Commissioner of Police Anand Kulkarni said that the investigation report in the case has been submitted to the government, in which it has been decided to sack both the policemen. This decision was taken in the month of April. Barring these two policemen, the punishment for the other guilty policemen had been decided in the past. The delay was due to his non-compliance with the statement.
More than four dozen police personnel were guilty in the investigation of the SIT. Out of this, about 52 policemen including four IPS, 11 gazetted police officers, including former DIG of Kanpur Anant Dev were named. The SIT had recommended action against all the police personnel under major punishment and minor punishment.
