Bangalore. Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer on Saturday said that he cannot bat negatively on the difficult wickets of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He said, ‘The balls were coming slow on the pitch and there was a different kind of bounce on the wicket. You can’t play negative on this wicket. When you reach the crease, go with a positive intention. My mindset was to play each ball on its own merit and I was trying to score runs in every ball.
He said, ‘I am disappointed that I missed a century, but if you look from the team’s point of view, we got a very good score which is 250 on this wicket. I play for the team, not for myself. Let us tell you that Shreyas Iyer played a fast innings of 92 runs in the Day-Night Test match against Sri Lanka and played a big role in taking the team’s score to 252 runs in the first innings. Shreyas Iyer, playing for the first time in the Day-Night Test match, hit 4 sixes and 10 fours during his innings in the first innings.
Team India scored 252 runs in the first innings and most of the team’s main batsmen failed to play big innings. While captain Rohit Sharma scored 15 runs, Virat Kohli got out for 23 runs. Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs while Hanuma Vihari scored 31 runs. Ravindra Jadeja, who scored an unbeaten 175 in the Mohali Test, scored just 4 runs in the first innings of this Test.
