Lucknow. Rajeshwar Singh’s name has also been added to the list of officers who have left the job and stepped on the path of politics in Uttar Pradesh. Rajeshwar Singh, Joint Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED), Lucknow, on Monday, after the approval of his VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) application, also announced it by tweeting. It is written that now I want to make my debut in the field of politics. Rajeshwar Singh, who has done government service for about 24 years, still had 11 years of service left.
Rajeshwar Singh can be made BJP candidate from Lucknow’s Sarojininagar seat or home district Sultanpur. It is believed that Rajeshwar Singh will take the membership of BJP on Tuesday. IG Range, Lucknow Laxmi Singh is his wife. Earlier, IPS officer Aseem Arun has started his political innings by taking VRS. He is a BJP candidate from the Sadar seat of Kannauj.
Rajeshwar Singh, a 1994 batch officer of the Provincial Police Service (PPS), was posted as CO Gomtinagar and CO Mahanagar in Lucknow. In Prayagraj also held the responsibility of important posts. Rajeshwar had gone to the ED on deputation in the year 2009 and was later accommodated in the ED. After serving for almost 10 years in Uttar Pradesh Police and 14 years in ED, he is now leaving his job and going to start his second innings. Rajeshwar Singh, who is counted among the flamboyant officers, was entrusted with the responsibility of some important investigations at the Delhi headquarters of the ED. These include 2G scam, Jagan Reddy case, Commonwealth game scam, AgustaWestland helicopter deal case and other major cases.
After taking over the command of ED Lucknow, action was taken in many big scams of Ponzi scheme under the leadership of Rajeshwar Singh. He also started investigation in Gomti riverfront scam, memorial scam, mining scam and bike boat scam. Rajeshwar also played an important role in starting the investigation by registering a case of money laundering against mafia Mukhtar Ansari and Atiq Ahmed. Rajeshwar Singh has also received the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry. Rajeshwar tweeted a letter on Monday, in which he shared the information about VRS being approved. Wrote that 24 years of relentless hard work and conscientiousness, the caravan has stopped at a halt today.
Father was retired IPS officer: Rajeshwar Singh’s father Late Ran Bahadur Singh was a retired IPS officer. Rajeshwar did his PhD in Human Rights after doing B.Tech and LLB. His brother Rameshwar Singh is the Income Tax Commissioner. One sister Meenakshi is an IRS officer and her brother-in-law Rajiv Krishna is ADG Zone Agra. Rajeshwar Singh’s elder sister Abha Singh is a Supreme Court lawyer. Abha Singh was in the Indian Postal Service and her husband YP Singh is a former IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre.
