Lucknow. The arena of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh has become very exciting. After the announcement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur Sadar and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya to contest from Sirathu in Prayagraj, the Samajwadi Party has also fixed the election arena of Akhilesh Yadav. The president of the Samajwadi Party will contest from Karhal in Mainpuri, the traditional seat of the party.
Samajwadi Party’s chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary confirmed that Akhilesh Yadav will contest from Karhal. Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had indicated this in Lucknow on Wednesday itself. He had said that we will fight elections before CM Yogi Adityanath. Tej Pratap Yadav, MP from Mainpuri, has been made in charge of Akhilesh Yadav’s election. Mulayam Singh Yadav is the MP from Mainpuri itself. Voting will be held here on February 20.
Akhilesh Yadav, Lok Sabha member from Azamgarh, will contest the assembly elections from Karhal in Mainpuri. The Samajwadi Party has announced this on Thursday. There were speculations that Akhilesh Yadav would contest from a seat in Azamgarh or Gunnaur in Badaun, but the party has fielded him from his native seat. The Samajwadi Party has not lost the election on this seat for the last 30 years. In the 2017 elections, despite the Modi-Yogi wave, SP candidate Sobran Singh got 50 per cent votes here. The party has not officially announced this.
Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav had taken education from Jain Inter College in Karhal and after that he was also a teacher here. Karhal is just five kilometers away from Saifai, the village of Mulayam Singh Yadav. The Karhal assembly seat has been occupied by the Samajwadi Party (SP) seven times. Baburam Yadav of Dalit Mazdoor Kisan Party was elected from this assembly seat in 1985. After this, in 1989 and 1991, he was elected MLA on SP ticket in the Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP), 1993 and 1996. After this, Anil Yadav of SP won the 2000 by-elections. BJP’s Sobran Singh Yadav won in 2002. Sobran Singh Yadav later switched to SP and was elected MLA in 2007, 2012 and 2017. In the 2017 elections from Karhal assembly seat, Sovran Singh Yadav, who contested on SP ticket, defeated his nearest rival Rama Shakya of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a huge margin of more than 40 thousand votes.
Samajwadi Party’s district organization in Mainpuri had submitted a proposal in writing to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday to contest from Karhal assembly seat. Karhal’s SP MLA Sobran Singh Yadav and MLC Arvind Pratap Singh reached Lucknow on Thursday morning. He met National President Akhilesh Yadav at his party office. In the meeting, everyone requested Akhilesh Yadav to contest from Karhal assembly. According to the District President, the National President had shown a positive attitude on the proposal.

Mohit Yadav, a resident of Kasba Bhogaon, is an active member of SP. Mohit, who has done MCA, is still unemployed. On Thursday afternoon, he wrote a letter with his blood in the name of National President Akhilesh Yadav and sent it to the party headquarters. Later in the afternoon it also made it viral on the internet media. In the letter, he has written that if Akhilesh Yadav contests the assembly elections from Mainpuri, the respected people here will give you the biggest victory ever in Uttar Pradesh. Mohit Yadav, a resident of Bhogaon, an active member of the Kasba SP, wrote a letter to the party president with his blood on Thursday and sent it to the party headquarters. Later in the afternoon it also made it viral on the internet media. In the letter, he wrote that if Akhilesh Yadav contests the assembly elections from Mainpuri, then the respected people here will give you the biggest victory ever in Uttar Pradesh.
