BSP supremo Mayawati has got another setback before the UP assembly elections. Sadabad MLA Ramveer Upadhyay, who was a minister in the BSP government, has resigned from the membership of the party. With this, the speculation of Upadhyay joining the Samajwadi Party (SP) or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified.
Upadhyay, one of the prominent Brahmin leaders of BSP, left the party in his resignation letter sent to BSP supremo Mayawati, citing the reason for deviating from its principles. He said in his resignation letter that he had been an active member of BSP for the last 25 years and also warned about the ever-decreasing public support of the party. He said the party leadership did not review it.
Speculations of Upadhyay joining the SP on Friday along with Swami Prasad Maurya, who recently quit the BJP after his resignation, intensified. Upadhyay did not attend the MLAs who reached the SP office under the leadership of Swamy. After this, the discussion of him now turning to BJP started. Upadhyay will soon clear the picture about this.
Upadhyay said, “Even after not winning the seats as expected in the elections, no review was done by the party which was demanded by me from time to time. I informed you in 2019 Lok Sabha election that we are not getting seats as expected in this election also. Because, the cadre vote is also slipping away from us. He said, “You (Mayawati) have suspended me from the party by denying the truth told by me. Due to which the sentiments of me and my supporters got hurt. Today, BSP has deviated from the principles and ideals made by Manyavar Kanshi Ram Sahab, for this reason I resign from the membership of BSP.
It is noteworthy that Upadhyay is an MLA from Sadabad seat of Hathras district. He has been the Energy, Medical, Education and Transport Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the previous governments.
