On this, Akhilesh said that ‘this party will decide from where I will contest.’
SP President Akhilesh Yadav is currently the MP from Azamgarh seat. In 2012, when the Samajwadi Party government was formed under the leadership of Akhilesh, he also became a member of the Legislative Council. Yogi Adityanath was also an MP when he became the Chief Minister in 2017 and later became a member of the Legislative Council. However, this time he has announced to contest the assembly elections.

Yogi has said that he is ready but the organization has to decide from where to contest the elections. On the possibility of contesting from Ayodhya or Gorakhpur, Yogi said that although I am contesting from all 403 seats, I have no personal desire. Wherever the party tells, I will contest from there. It is noteworthy that at present Yogi is a member of the Legislative Council. Yogi’s tenure as a council member is till July 6 this year.
