New Delhi. National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman has praised India’s Under-19 team. The India Under-19 team was at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before leaving for the UAE for the Asia Cup. VVS Laxman feels that India’s Under-19 team’s Asian Cup title win deserves more praise as the players’ preparation was affected by bad weather ahead of the tournament.
India once again proved their superiority in the continent’s top tournament in the age group as they thrashed Sri Lanka by nine wickets in a rain-hit title match in Dubai on Friday to clinch the title for a record eighth time. In such a situation, NCA chief VVS Laxman termed this result as a morale boosting ideal victory ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup. The Under-19 World Cup will be played in the West Indies from January 14 to February 5.
Former cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted, “Congratulations India U-19 team for winning the Asian Cup Under-19 title. Their preparation was affected by the weather as well as other problems but it’s good to see that with each match They keep getting better. That too is as satisfying as winning the title. Ideal win to boost morale ahead of the World Cup.”
VVS Laxman has also said this because India has not won the Under-19 World Cup since 2018. The last time this tournament was played in 2020, in which Team India was defeated in the final match. This is the reason that winning the Asia Cup this time will boost the morale of India’s young players, which will benefit the team in the ICC youth mega event.
