In the first match of the three-match Test series, he left behind former Indian legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni by hunting his 100th Test. On the third day of the match, Rishabh achieved this amazing feat in South Africa’s first innings.
Team India tightened its grip in the first match of the Test series being played against South Africa. After a strong start from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal on the first day, India’s first innings was reduced to 327 runs on the third day. Not a single over could be bowled on the second day due to rain. South Africa’s team could only score 197 runs in front of India’s brilliant bowling in the first innings. India took a lead of 130 runs. During this, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh took four catches and created history.
In Centurion, Pant took four wickets behind the wicket. He took the catches of four batsmen and broke Dhoni’s record for the fastest 100 wickets. After playing 26 Test matches, he achieved this feat and set a record for becoming the fastest Indian to do so. Dhoni and Wriddhiman Saha had taken 100 wickets after playing 36 Test matches. Kiran More took 39 matches to do so. Nayan Mongia took 41 matches to reach this point.
In Test cricket, Pant has taken a total of 93 catches while stumping 8 batsmen. In this way, he did a wonderful job of hunting a total of 100 in the test. Dhoni, who played 90 Test matches, took a total of 256 catches in his career while 38 batsmen were stumped and sent back.
