When the first day’s play ended, Mayank Agarwal was not out after scoring 120 runs. He faced 246 balls on the first day of the game and played this innings with the help of 3 sixes and 14 fours. On the basis of his unbeaten 120 not out on the first day of the Mumbai Test, Mayank Agarwal made a big record in his name and now he became the batsman to play the biggest individual innings for India against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium. The situation in which Mayank played this innings is worthy of praise.
Before Mayank Agarwal at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Sunil Gavaskar had the record of playing the biggest innings in Test cricket for India. The first test match was played between India and New Zealand in the year 1976. In this match, Gavaskar scored 119 runs with the help of 20 fours and India won by 162 runs. After this this record was maintained till now, but now after 34 years, Indian opener batsman Mayank Agarwal broke Gavaskar’s record by scoring 120 runs against New Zealand.
Talking about the first day of the Mumbai Test match, Mayank along with Shubman Gill gave a good start to the team by sharing 80 runs for the first wicket, but after that Gill got out after playing an innings of 44 runs. Then on the score of 80 runs, the second wicket of Team India fell in the form of Pujara, who was dismissed for zero, while on 80 runs, India again lost the third wicket in the form of captain Kohli. Kohli also could not open his account in this match. After this, Mayank shared an 80-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer for the fourth wicket, but once again Shreyas was dismissed after scoring 18 runs for 160 runs. After this, Mayank shared a good partnership for the fifth wicket with Saha to take the team to a score of 221 by the end of the first day’s play.
