Mohammad Umar, the son of former MP Atiq Ahmed, is away from the CBI’s custody in the case of kidnapping real estate businessman Mohit Jaiswal and taking him to Deoria jail in December, 2018 and getting properties worth crores after beating him. CBI has issued his lookout circular. A reward of two lakhs has also been announced by the CBI on the accused.
On November 22, the special CBI court had ordered the issuance of arrest warrants against Mohammad Umar and his accomplice Yogesh. The court had also ordered attachment of the properties of both the absconding accused on October 21.
On December 28, 2018, real estate businessman Mohit Jaiswal had lodged an FIR against the accused. It is alleged that Atiq, who was lodged in Deoria jail, had kidnapped him from the Gomtinagar office through his henchmen. The accused had taken him to Deoria jail on the strength of the weapon. Atiq asked Mohit to sign on a plain stamp paper. On refusing, Ateeq along with his son Umar, henchmen Gurfan, Farooq, Ghulam and Irfan beat up Mohit fiercely.
As soon as Mohit became unconscious, he got the stamp paper signed and got property worth about 45 crores in his name. Not only this, Atiq’s henchmen also robbed the victim’s SUV. Initially, the investigation was done by the Krishnanagar police. Later on April 23, 2019, the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI on the orders of the Supreme Court. So far, chargesheets have been filed against 18 accused including former SP MP Atiq Ahmed in this case.
Evidence of assault was found in jail: Police had got evidence of Mohit being kidnapped and taken to Deoria jail. Lucknow Police had searched the CC cameras installed in Deoria Jail. After this, the register was taken into possession there and investigated. Investigation revealed that Mohit was taken to Deoria jail, where Atiq and his henchmen had assaulted.
