Pratapgarh. The court sentenced in Pratapgarh’s famous teacher leader Shobhnath Mishra murder case. Two of the accused were sentenced to death and five to life imprisonment. The verdict has come after eight years. Shobhanath Mishra was murdered on 12 July 2012. The court sentenced Arun Kumar, Anuj Dubey, Pramod Tiwari Lota, Ashok Mishra, Pradeep Singh to life imprisonment and Naushad alias DM and Rajesh Kumar to death. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each on all the accused.
Additional Sessions Judge Pankaj Kumar Srivastava found Rajesh Singh son Radheshyam resident of Setapur police station Antu and Naushad alias DM son Shamsher Ali resident Kala Bhadari police station Lalganj guilty of murder and sentenced him to death and fine. Along with other accused Pradeep Singh son Surya Narayan Singh resident of Ajit Nagar police station Kotwali Nagar, Pramod Kumar alias Lota Tiwari resident of Viharganj Bhojpur, Ashok Mishra resident of halt ward, Arun Kumar Singh resident of Viharganj Baria Samudra police station Kotwali Nagar and Anuj Dubey resident of Lalaganj Azhara to Lalganj. He was also found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment and fine.
Accused Rajesh Singh, Lota Tiwari, Arun Singh, Anuj Dubey were punished with fine of two lakh eighty thousand rupees and accused Naushad, Ashok Mishra and Pradeep Singh with fine of two lakh seventy thousand rupees. The entire amount of fine will be payable to the heirs of the deceased. According to Sue Vadini Vidya Devi resident of Ajit Nagar police station Kotwali Nagar, her husband Shobhanath was the president of the teachers union.
The accused Rajesh Singh was a teacher. Rajesh Singh of Setapur village wanted to forcibly marry my girl Pooja, which was opposed by my husband and girl. Many times Rajesh Singh laid siege to my husband regarding this matter. The incident happened on July 14, 2012 at nine o’clock in the night, my husband, me and my girl Pooja and Priya were talking on the channel of the house sitting on a board and chair in the verandah. At the same time Rajesh Singh, Pradeep Singh, Ashok and one other person whom I can identify entered my house with their pistols in their hands.
Rajesh Singh said to my husband that today brother-in-law will not leave you alive and Rajesh Singh shot my husband by his neck. Others fired with a pistol, which hurt my husband and Hakim Ansari, who was coming from outside. The accused fled after abusing Pulsar and threatening to kill others. My husband’s condition was critical, he collapsed there. Krishna Kumar Tiwari was taking him to the hospital when he died on the way. ADGC Anil Mishra advocated on behalf of the state and Ashwini Kumar Pandey on behalf of Vadini.
