When the body of property dealer Manish Gupta from Ramgarhtal in Gorakhpur reached Kanpur on Wednesday, the police started trying to conduct the last rites. Due to the CM’s program on Thursday, the police officers kept on convincing the family members to perform the last rites of the dead body in the evening itself to avoid any uncomfortable situation and stayed outside the businessman’s house all night. After this, as soon as the first ray of dawn came out, in the presence of relatives at around 4.30 pm, the dead body was kept in an ambulance and transported to Bhairavghat and cremated. During this a heavy police force was deployed.
Manish’s body reached home from Gorakhpur at 9:30 am on Wednesday and preparations for the last rites were going on. Meanwhile, the leaders of the political party reached and talked to the family members and informed about the arrival of senior leaders. On this, the relatives had stopped the preparations for the funeral. As soon as the information about this was received, the police and administrative officers kept on pleading with their relatives to perform the last rites soon, but the matter did not work out. District Magistrate Visakh G Iyer and Police Commissioner Aseem Arun assured to meet the Chief Minister after holding talks with the family members.
After this, the officers talked to Saurabh, a resident of Nawabganj late in the night, and the relatives assured to take the dead body for the last rites at 4:30 on Thursday morning. The RRF and Janata Nagar Chowki Force were deployed throughout the night. ACP Nazirabad Santosh Singh, ACP Govind Nagar Vikas Kumar Pandey reached at 3:30 in the morning, after sometime DCP South Raveena Tyagi also reached at 3:45 am. DCP South, along with Pink Chowki Police, consoled the victim’s wife Meenakshi alias Komal, sister Dali and Shivani and other women. After some time, preparations started to take the dead body for the last rites. As soon as the first ray of the sun burst, at 4:30 pm, the family members carried the earth on the shoulder and brought it to the outside of the street. After this, in the presence of police officers, the body was taken to Bhairavghat by vehicle.
Five people including uncle gave fire: Manish’s body was cremated at Bhairavghat in the presence of DCP South Raveena Tyagi, ADM City Atul Kumar, SDM and heavy police force. The fire was given by uncle Brijkishore Gupta, cousin Shivshankar Gupta, Nakul Gupta, Vishal Gupta and Ankit Gupta.
Force stationed at home: Police appeared on alert mode regarding the arrival of the Chief Minister. Even after the body was raised, the RRF and Barra, Naubasta police station forces were stationed at home.
