Auraiya. During excavation in village Bahadurpur Chhaunk of Sahayal area in Auraiya, 16 gold coins and two silver coins have been found. When the farm owner showed the seals to the villagers, the information reached the police. The police have informed the Archaeological Department by taking the seals from the villager in their possession. A police guard has been put on the farm.
Rambabu Pal of Badshahpur Chhaunk village, situated at a high altitude, was getting the soil lifted from his field on Thursday. After a little digging, he saw thick coins of yellow metal. When he removed the soil, 16 coins of yellow metal and two coins of white metal were found. The news of gold coins coming out of the field spread in the area. People reached the farm.
On Thursday night, the watchman of the village informed the police. On Friday morning, the Sahayal police reached the village and took the seals in their possession. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sadar Surendranath Yadav said that there is some inscription in Urdu and Arabic in ancient coins. Its information has been given to the Archaeological Department and the concerned magistrate.
Some more people have got information about getting coins from the villagers, people are being questioned on this. Police have been deployed at the farm so that there is no panic over the coins.
Etawah’s name in seals
Assistant Professor of Arab Culture at Aligarh Muslim University. Dr. Shabbir Ahmed, looking at the photo of the seal, told that these coins are not stamps. 29 Procession-Etawa is written on them in Persian. Such seals were made in the Mughal period and before that. The meaning of writing 29 processions can be that 29 years have passed since the reign of the ruler concerned. Every year large processions were organized from the courts. The rulers used to get stamps cast in their memory.
where did the six seals disappear
Some stamps went missing between the exit from the farm and the seized documents of the police. Farm owner Rambabu said, ‘I handed over all the 16 seals and two silver coins found in the field to the police.’ On the other hand, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sadar Surendranath Yadav told that a total of 12 coins have been found, out of which 10 are of yellow metal and two of white metal. After all, where the six pieces of yellow metal have gone, it is not clear.
Ganga Singh-Badan Singh were the feudatories of the area.
In the past also coins, damaged sculptures and other things of antiquity have been found in excavation in this area. During the Mughal period, this region remained under Raja Ganga Singh and after him Badan Singh. Avinash Agnihotri of Bharat Prerna Manch, working for many years on archaeological importance in Auraiya and surrounding districts, states that in 1190 the Sahayal region was under Raja Ganga Singh.
When Prithviraj Chauhan climbed Mahoba, then Ganga Singh and King Jaichand of Kannauj fought with Prithviraj Chauhan along with Alha-Udal. Ganga Singh was killed in this battle. At that time the country was ruled by the Mughals and the local kings looked after the affairs of the Mughals as feudal lords.
Coins have already been found from the farm
The people of Bahadurpur Chhaunk have got gold and silver coins in the past as well. When the police started questioning on information from the villagers, the police also got a coin from Lalta Prasad, the youth of the village. The police had taken Lalta Prasad with him to the police station, after questioning for a long time, he told that he had got the coin from the farm about a month ago. Lalta Prasad handed over the gold coin to the police. The names of many more people have come to the fore who have got the coins, the police station head Rajkumar says that people are being questioned right now.
