New Delhi. Like the ODI series against Sri Lanka, the Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan has started with a winning performance in the T20 series as well. The team first scored 164 runs on the back of fine innings from Suryakumar Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan and later registered a 38-run win by bowling out hosts Sri Lanka for just 126 runs in 18.3 overs. Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the man of the match for his match-winning bowling. After losing to India, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka looked disappointed and called it the turning point of the match.
After the match, Shanaka said, ‘I think the target of 164 runs on this wicket was good and this target could have been achieved. The Indian bowlers got off to a good start in the match and we didn’t have enough middle order batsmen to finish the game. Aslanka’s wicket proved to be the turning point. I think our bowlers also did a good job of stopping him for less runs. I hope we learn from the outcome of this match and do well in the next match.
In this match, Charith Aslanka hit the first six of the innings off all-rounder Hardik Pandya and then hit a six on debutant Varun Chakraborty. In the 14th over, Aslanka hit his third six on Chakraborty and then also hit a four. The team’s century of runs was also completed in the same over. Sri Lanka needed 58 runs to win from the last five overs. Aslanka tried to play a big shot off Chahar and caught Prithvi Shaw at deep midwicket. He hit three sixes and as many fours in 26 balls. Chahar also bowled Wanindu Hasaranga in the same over.
