Agra: AEN Ramesh Singh, posted at Bridge Line in North Central Railway, Agra, was arrested by the Alwar Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday evening for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from the contractor for passing a bill of Rs 1.5 crore. ACB team has arrested AEN Ramesh Singh with bribe amount in Ramgarh town.
Various works were going on on Mathura-Alwar line under Agra Railway Division. These included many major and minor bridge works. Under AEN Ramesh Singh, work of about Rs 20 crore is going on. This included the ongoing work at many places including Ramgarh, Bandikui. AEN Ramesh Singh was demanding a bribe in the form of commission in lieu of passing the bill of 1.5 crore to the contractor. Instead of paying bribe, the contractor decided to teach a lesson to AEN. He informed the ACB before giving the bribe.
After this ACB made a plan to catch AEN Ramesh Singh red handed while taking bribe. Under the same plan, Ramesh Singh was arrested by the ACB on Sunday with a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. ACB ASP Vijay Singh said that there were many employees and officers with AEN. But his role in the bribery case did not come to the fore. Vijay Singh told that the officer who took the bribe was clever. Who kept calling the contractor sometimes somewhere. Due to this the ACB team also had to chase him since morning.
