New Delhi. India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar has once again recalled the memories of the charity match played at Lord’s ground, which was called the Mecca of cricket seven years ago. Sachin was the captain of the MCC XI in that match played at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 5 July 2014, whose team faced the team of Rest of the World XI. Apart from Sachin, the MCC XI included veteran batsmen like Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, while the team of Rest of the World XI had players like Adam Gilchrist, Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi and Shane Warne.
Tendulkar has posted a video of the charity match on Twitter, in which he is seen practicing with a pad tied and a helmet. He has also posted some photos related to the match. In the video, Tendulkar is seen tossing the toss, fielding and then going to the batting field. Tendulkar wrote in the caption accompanying the video, ‘That beautiful game of cricket becomes a little more special when there is a charity match at the Home of Cricket Lord’s.
Tendulkar scored 44 runs in 45 balls in that match. However, he missed his half-century and was bowled by Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal was also part of the MCC XI team in that match. Tendulkar’s MCC XI defeated the Rest of the World XI team by seven wickets in this match.
