Lucknow. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered action under the NSA against those involved in the conversion of deaf, deaf and physically challenged children and youth. Police said that two people were arrested from Delhi on Monday for forcibly converting more than a thousand people to Muslims.
For this, the CM has ordered strict action and has asked the agencies to investigate the racket further and conduct an in-depth investigation to arrest all those involved in it. The UP government has also ordered the authorities to confiscate the full properties of the accused.
In Delhi’s Jamia Nagar, 2 men were allegedly running an organization involved in converting deaf students and other poor people into Muslims in UP with funding from Pakistan’s ISI. The arrests were made by the Anti-Terrorism Squad of UP after an FIR was registered in the case at Lucknow’s ATS Police Station. ADGP (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar has identified the arrested accused as Mufti Qazi Jehangir Alam Qasmi and Mohammad Umar Gautam. Both are said to be residents of Jamia Nagar in New Delhi.
The ADGP said that Gautam, who himself had converted from Hinduism to Muslim, had accused the police of converting at least one thousand people into Muslims, luring them with marriage, money and jobs etc.
Prashant Kumar quoted Gautam as saying, “I have converted at least a thousand non-Muslims, all of them married to Muslims.”
The ADGP said that the organization they run was the ‘Islamic Dawah Centre’, which has access to Pakistan’s ISI and other foreign agencies. He has further said that ATS was working on intelligence inputs that some people were getting funds from ISI and other foreign agencies to convert poor people into Muslims and spread communal enmity in the society.
The ATS investigation has resulted in the arrest of both and they have been booked on various charges including the Indian Penal Code and the stringent anti-conversion law of UP.
The ADGP said that the arrested accused will be produced before the court and the police will seek their custody for further investigation in the matter.
