New Delhi. The last match of the two-Test series is being played between West Indies and South Africa. In this match, South Africa has set a huge target of 324 runs for the victory in front of the hosts. In the second innings, South African bowler Keshav Maharaj made it memorable by taking a hat-trick. Along with taking three wickets one after the other on the fourth day of the match, this spinner registered his name in the pages of history. He is the first South African spinner to do so.
Spinner Keshav claimed a hat-trick as he displayed his brilliant spin against the West Indies at the Gross Islet on Monday. In the second innings, the Windies team, playing carefully, brought this spinner to his knee with three consecutive blows. The team suffered a third blow on 90 runs and the team was trying to recover when Keshav took his first hat-trick in the Test and almost decided the defeat of the Windies.
Test hat-trick by Keshav Maharaj
Keshav Maharaj, who came to the 37th over in the second innings of the West Indies, repeated the 61-year-old history by taking wickets on the third, fourth and fifth balls of the over. Keshav took the wicket of veteran Kieron Pollard off 36.3 balls. After this, on the very next ball, world number one all-rounder Jason Holder was caught by Pietersen. Completed his hat-trick with the dismissal of Joshua da Silva.
In 1960, Geoff Griffin took a hat-trick in Test cricket for South Africa against England. Since then, no Proteas bowler has been able to repeat this feat. Now Keshav has done this wonders. He is the second bowler from South Africa while the first spinner to have done this feat in Test cricket.
