After Hyderabad and Uttar Pradesh, the case of corona infection in Asiatic lions has also been reported in Rajasthan. The corona report of Jaipur Zoo’s Babbar Sher Tripur has come out positive. Apart from this, a white tiger and another lion have also been found suspicious in the same zoo. These three lions have been living in Lion Safari located in Nahargarh Biological Park on Jaipur Delhi Highway for a long time.
The samples of these lions have been examined at IVRI i.e. Indian Veterinary Research Institute located in Bareilly, UP. According to sources, Dr. KP Singh, Joint Director (Cadread) of the institute has confirmed the report. On the other hand, Dr. Arvind Mathur, Senior Wildlife Medical Officer at Nahargarh Biological Park, says that he has not yet received reports of Tripura being corona positive. They are not verifying this report.
According to sources, the first eight Asiatic lions were first found in the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. After this, Lion’s Corona infection was found in Lion Safari in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Then 13 samples of animals were sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly for investigation in Lion Safari under Jaipur Zoo.
