Dehradun. Rain and hail storms in Uttarakhand have affected life in the mountainous regions. There was a continuation of rain on Thursday as well. One person died after being buried under rubble due to the collapse of the boundary wall of the house in the Teuni Tehsil of Dehradun district. Apart from this, in the remote area Mori block of Uttarkashi district, due to lightning strikes, brothers and sisters were injured. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of change in the mood of the weather till May 16. There is also a possibility of lightning in some places with heavy showers in the mountainous areas on Friday.
The under construction boundary of the house in Raigi village of Teuni Tehsil area in Dehradun district collapsed. Another house was also damaged due to this. Bhopal Singh (51 years) living in the same house died due to being buried under the debris, while his wife and two children escaped and saved their lives. The incident is reported to be at seven in the morning. The area had been raining since Wednesday night.
On the other hand, Jaidevi of Livadi village in Uttarkashi district along with her younger brother Jagveer went to the forest carrying cattle. Meanwhile, both were injured due to lightning accompanied by lightning. At the same time, a calf died due to scorching. The villagers reached the village with both the injured and informed the administration. Sub-collector Sohan Singh Saini said that both were given treatment in the village itself. The conditions of both are now normal.
Snowfall in Char Dham, Hail in Mussoorie
After noon on Thursday, there was snowfall in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The low-lying areas Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Almora received rains at many places. The weather has become cold due to hail storm in Mussoorie.
Hail showers in Kumaon with rain
The order of rain and hailstorm is continuing in the mountainous areas of Kumaon. In parts of Garuda, Kapkot, Bageshwar of Bageshwar, there was hailstorm with rain in many parts of Bageshwar. It rained till noon in Sarovar city Nainital. Due to continuous rains, the water level of Naini lake has also increased by seven and a half inches above normal.
So far double the rainfall in May
Over a fortnight the state is suffering from heavy rainfall. According to the State Meteorological Center, 35.4 mm of rain has been received so far in May, which is twice the normal. Generally, rainfall is up to 17.1 mm during this period. During this time the maximum rainfall was recorded in Rudraprayag district at 71.3 mm. Apart from this, good rains were also seen in Chamoli, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Bageshwar.
