Prayagraj The counting of three-tier panchayat elections will be held on May 2. District Election Officer Bhanu Chandra Goswami held a meeting regarding preparations for counting of votes at the Sangam auditorium on Saturday. The concerned officials have been instructed to ensure all preparations related to counting.
The District Magistrate has instructed to install CCTV cameras as per the standard set at the counting venue. He has instructed all the Block Development Officers to install barricades and forged iron as per the prescribed distance at the counting place. All the Deputy Collectors have been directed to visit the counting place and ensure all necessary arrangements related to counting. The Collector said that there should be a clear sound at the time of announcement. Instructions have also been given to ensure proper arrangement of toilets, cleanliness, electricity, water and light. Chief Development Officer Shipu Giri, Deputy District Election Officer MP Singh, Assistant Election Officer Dinesh Tripathi etc. were present on the occasion.
Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue MP Singh said that the candidate or his election agent can appoint a person to be present as his counting agent on the counting of votes. Each such appointment shall be made before the commencement of computation. A counting agent will not be allowed to enter within the designated space for calculation unless he gives his letter of appointment to the Returning Officer. Union and State Government Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chairman, District Panchayat, Chief Kshetra Panchayat and VIPs, who have security and people having criminal history and government servants will not be made as counting agents.
All the counting agents will fully cooperate with the Election Officer to implement the discipline and instructions within the counting hall. Shall comply with the instructions of the Returning Officer. They can be taken out of the counting hall in defiance of any instructions by the Returning Officer. No counting agent and others will be allowed outside the counting hall during the counting of votes. That is, once the counting agent and others enter the counting hall, after the counting results are declared, they will go out of the counting hall. Due to the counting of Zilla Panchayat members on more than one table, as many counting agents can be appointed as those who will have counting of Zila Panchayat members.
A person with Kovid symptoms will not be appointed as counting agent. Any person coming from other states and districts who have not completed the 14-day quarantine period will not be appointed as counting agent. Compliance with standard instructions of Kovid-19 will be ensured.
