New Delhi. In the midst of the farmers’ agitation, the government has taken a big decision in their interest. Giving information about this, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said through a tweet that this system has been implemented in the entire country with the farmers getting the price of the produce directly in their bank account in Punjab. Now farmers after selling the produce on MSP will get the money directly in their accounts. This is a major change in the interest of farmers since independence. For the benefit of farmers, small and marginal farmers will be benefited by the steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that now farmers in Punjab will get the price of their produce sold on MSP directly in their bank accounts. This will also benefit the farmers who cultivate the land on rent. Due to transparency in the system, they will not be misled and these farmers will also get full price for the produce. In Punjab, this system has been implemented in the entire country with the farmers getting the price of the produce directly in their bank account.
It may be noted that the Union Finance Ministry has made a direct bank account payment (DBT) rule to make government procurement transparent, which has been implemented in all states except Punjab. During the years 2018 and 2019, a letter was written to the Punjab a dozen times from the Center, but the Punjab’s inability to implement it every time was expressed. It was said that it is not possible to do so due to the pressure of the commissioners and market rules.
The top officials of the Food Ministry, Food Corporation of India, have constantly kept in touch with the Punjab government to overcome its difficulties so as to prevent the payment through adhatiyas. But the matter has not been reached yet.
