Dehradun. Rescue operations are continuing to save 34 people trapped in the tunnel in Tapovan in the wake of disaster due to the breaking of glacier in Chamoli district. Earlier on Thursday, the operation was interrupted twice. The expedition, which began Wednesday night for drilling down to the Silt Flushing Tunnel (SFT) under the tunnel, not only had to stop 10 hours later, but then resumed on the old track. Three hours later, rescue work in the tunnel was stopped midway due to the reported rise in water level in Dhauliganga at around 2 pm. After about one and a half hours, the rescue operation was smooth after the situation was normal.
NDRF Commandant PK Tiwari, who was involved in the rescue operation of people trapped in Tapovan tunnel in Chamoli district, said that the team is constantly searching for dead bodies. A team has also been deployed to search for the dead bodies along the river. All the agencies involved in the rescue operation are working round the clock.

Significantly, on February 7, after the glacier broke, the inundation of water destroyed a lot. Since then, a total of 36 dead bodies have been found, while the identification has been done at ten. 168 people are missing. 184 cattle died in the disaster for the first time. At the same time, the work of delivering relief material to disaster affected areas continued. On Thursday, Governor Baby Rani Maurya and Vis President Premchand Aggarwal also visited the disaster-affected area and took care of the affected families.
